Fine. Then Campbell better damn well be consistent from here on out and not do an about face when it's some other player on the Pens, Caps, or other NHL fair haired team who makes a dirty hit.

I think this is a face saver for Campbell and the NHL and the Ducks and Wiz are the unfortunate, but perfect scapegoats.

Illegal hit? Check.
Repeat offender? Check.
Player injury? Check.
Non-star player targeting a more talented player? Check.
Small market team versus Original Six Darling of the NHL? Check.
Team out of playoff contention versus one of the top teams in the league? Check.
Team with a history and reputation for sometimes playing on the edge (and sometimes crossing it)? Check.
Being able to wipe the pie off of the NHL's face for not dealing with other offenses and hits that have caused serious injuries? Check.

See everything is perfect now. Poof. The NHL and Colin Campbell have solved the leagues disciplinary problems all at once.
